4252 French River
"For centuries, the French River has been a major travel coridor. It carried the canoes of the Algonkians and Hurons. By the 1600s, it helped open North America to French explorers and Catholic Missionaries [many of whom are familiar figures in Minnesota history]. Then came the canoe brigades of fur traders who pushed into the upper Great Lkaes and across the contenent."
