The Village Inn at Apgar on the south end of Lake McDonald gave us a beautiful view right outside our door. Smokey haze usually dulled our view but it was still pretty nice. We took a drive up the North Fork Road and got some close-up views of wildfire damage near the Flathead Wild and Scenic River. There have been some extensive forest fires in the park. We went as far as the little settlement of Polebridge - no phones, electric power by generator, and a mighty fine bakery in the general store.
